I have hoped and prayed for an updated YT forum... and I don't know when the "modern" view came around... but I just found it today and I love it! Thank you YT for hearing your forum junkies and customers.

James

If you have a mouse with the scroll wheel on top try this trick...

Hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and then rotate the scroll wheel, one way will make things smaller, the other way will magnify.
Or, with windows XP anyways in the bottom right corner just above the clock should be a magnifying glass, clicking this will let you choose up to I think 400%.

If you can get past the font difference the benefits of the new forum style is great.

The way I look at it you dont have to start a new thread. Bump the old thread to the top and take off where you left off. Im not sure why anyone would have a problem with a upgrade? Its not that hard to figure out the new forum. Easy as working on a N!!!

I'm trying out the new forum. Not sure yet. My N doesn't have any bells and whistles, maybe my forum doesn't either. third party image

I don't care that 'Anonymous' gets to post here. On the classic, Anon was forced to put up a username, even if it was phony. No big deal I guess.

I'm trying to keep an open mind on this. I have bookmarked the modern view above the classic view, though.

I really like this new board. Besides bringing topics to the top as they are replied to, I also like it that replies are listed in the order they are entered. With the old board, replies go to the top. So the latest entry is the first one you read, right under the original. The flow is much better this way.

Joe, what version of Windows are you running? Look in the very bottom right hand corner of your screen. There should be a little symbol of a magnifying glass with "100%" next to it. Click on that and you can change it to enlargen the screen as large as you want.

Kenster, I am using XP pro. I do not have a magnifier icon in the lower right corner.

Zane; You must have reg. or your handle would not have shown up on the member list. When you log in, it asks for your handle & password. Jump down and press the "forgot my password" line, and they will send it to ya, via email. Don't feel bad, that's what I had to do. third party image

I had trouble also. Found out my password is case sensitive now. Apparently passwords were not case sensitive before.

The beauty of using the modern view is the constant and ongoing topics don't fall away like before just because they hit the next page. If an older topic is posted on it instantly goes to the top and thus makes it easier to find and keep up with the answers... no more need to post a new thread on the same topic each day to continue a work in progress...

By the way don't tell my bride of 15 years I have a new love in my life!

They have been working on interfacing them. Not everyone like's the new modern version. I have to admit I like the new version. I like the fact the a thread gets bumped to the top when someone posts a reply. I just looked the interface is not working yet.

Wrong Link in reply to Sean (TX), 06-17-2007 04:58:29
This link is fixed now... it was going to the old back up forums.

There is only one forum... with two optional views. The Classic view (which is the way they have always been, and will not change), and now we have the "Modern View" which uses the more modern interface similar to other forums on the net.

Classic View

Modern View

They share the exact same data, so regardless of what view you use to read or post, you are seeing the same information from both views.

We are still working out a few bugs... if you run across any you can report them in the Site comments forum or email Chris directly using support at ytmag.com

Just a reminder too, that the keyword here is "optional"! You can choose to view the forums however you wish, and you can even switch back and forth if you like certain qualities of both.

I just clicked on 'modern forums' you listed. If this is the one being talked about, man the print is too small for me. I tried to change the size on 'VIEW' and it is already the largest. I was browsing a few minutes and my eyes are really straining. Well that's what happens after 60 I guess. I prefer the old version for being able to read without straining my eyes.

Joe, that was an old link. Check this post I made earlier, and try the Modern View link. Let us know if the print is still too small. Thanks!

Kim,
Yes, the text size is still the same, very, very small and I cannot enlarge it any more. It's OK I'll just continue on the traditional link. I have no problems with it.
However, if you ever do away with that, then it will become a little more difficult.
Thanks.
