Chuck..... ..why are you surprized to find out iff'n you by-pass the ignition switch by running a jumper from the battery to the coil, you CAN'T turn yer ignition off with the ignition switch??? Lets analyze this. You're having trouble starting yer new-to-you 9N. So in a brilliant burst of electrically challenged creativeness, you decide to fixx 3-problems at 1-time. You doubt? You cite bad wiring, good place to start and STOP. But NO, you don't stop, you convert to 12-volts 'cuz "Bubba" down at the local barley-pops emporium sez' "thats the thing to do". He don't know squats about N-Tractors, but he can talk a good talk. Now you have a 3rd problem, that you will swear onnna stacka Bibles that you wired your 12-volt conversion per the instructions and now it will only start iff'n you do a shadetree mechanics trick of by-passing all the stuff you claim you wired correctly and it starts. Do you sense a dichotomy here? Me? I'd check the wiring between the top-post of the squarecan ignition coil and the ignition ON terminal. Use a $5 lite'inna'pick to trace them missing electrons. ...or... you could squander $10 for a real electrical testmeter at yer local hardware store. Simple, eh?..... ..respectfully, Dell yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
