Just stopped in to check the research & info artices on 12v conversion. Happen to be checking out alternators and ford parts before finding your post.

Might want to try a google search:

(Delco 10SI Series 63 Amp, 12 Volt )

Found rebuild kits for $23.00, Alternators $63.00 - $76.00, N"s Starters W/drive $109.00.

I have no idea what alternators prices are yet.

Just some fruit for thought. May help..

Good Luck...

JTB..... .since you haffta trade yer old alternator IN for what they call "core-charge", just carry yer BAD alternator in to enny autoparts store and tell'em you want this one checked out (thats usually "free") and iff'n its bad, they will know from reading the alternator label what replacement alternator to sell you. Simple, eh?..... ...Dell

Nothing on the alternator. Someone painted it black. Is this a standard GM alternator from the 70's? Can the same alternator be used for the one wire or the three wire setup?

Thanks John

John..... ..1-wire or 3-wire, outside is the same. whether painted silver, aluminum, black, white, red, or chrome plated. INSIDE GUTTZ DIFFERENT. But the guttz have printed numbers on them. NO, I don't know what number is what. Thats what books and catalogs are for; cross-referencing. Take it IN, let them figger it out. Thats their job..... ...Dell

Ask for the location of a good rebuilder, or take in the bad part for replacement.
