12 Volt battery question

I was wondering how those of you with the 12 volt conversion hold the batteries in the tray. When I bought my 8N the battery was just sitting loose in the tray and I've kept it like that for a few years now with no issues but I fear one day the positive side of the battery is going to make a connection with the sheet metal hood. What options do I have to secure this battery?

Thanks,

I used a non standard car battery on my N, I just have a metal bar (about the size of an old wooden ruler)bolted to the side of the tray , also have one of those red rubber caps for the positive post got from pepboys.

Either get a universal battery hold down from TSC.. or get a big black bunji.

On my 5000 and 7610s, I put in slightly larger than OEM batteries, and the posts set about 1/4 to 3/8" from the hood. I did notice that there had been sparking one time.. so now i have an old tire innertube doubled over the battery, held down with a bunji plus the oem hold bracket, and now i don't worry about accidental contact of the positive post with the sheet metal.

I just use the rubber bungee strap on both of my 8N's.

Iffin you have the correct battery use the OEM bat hold down, I use a Interstate group 35. On one of my N,s I wuz to cheap to buy a battery so I took a sheet of aluminum and bent a cover fer the left side of the bat box. Until the bat that came in it bite’s the dust that’s the way it will be, I will see iffin I kin find a pix of it.
