CVC 2..... ....lets gitt yer terminolgy straight. You are semi-defining the frontmount ignition distributor. The frontmount distributor has a 4-nipple distributor CAP. This is NOT the same as the squarecan ignition coil that has the danglin' springy-thingys that you are asking about. (bronze coil) Ignition coil and distributor cap both work together on the frontmount distributor but are NOT the same. Understand? Meter tests don't mean 'nuttin' unless you share the readings with us. Most meter readings are not accurate enuff for ignition coil trouble shooting. ...BUT... you can make a very accurate sparkie tester from enny old sparkplug by bending a side-electrode for a full 3/16" gap. Clamp yer sparkie tester metal shell to convient metal bracket and plug enny sparkie wire to top of sparkie tester and CRANK yer engine over (ignition switch ON) and WATCH the sparkie-gap. Does the sparkie jump the 3/16" gap with blut-snott authority? Or are they a wimpy yellowish/orangish poor excuse? Or NO SPARKIE at all? You write..... .."Tractor doesnt seem to want to start up very good. Intially fires off and then chokes out. Flooding out? Some have troubleshooted it as needing carburator rebuild"..... ...maybe but probably NOT. There are 4-common runtime issues with frontmount ignition systems. 1) runs for about 1-min and quits; BAD condenser Could be yer problem, but you don't quote a runtime 2) runs for about 5-min and quits; CLOGGED fuel filters Could be yer problem, but you don't quote a runtime 3) runs for about 15-min and quits; gunked-up ignition switch Most likely yer problem, but you don't quote a runtime 4) runs for about 1-hr and quits; restarts after overnite cooldown; bad ignition coil NOT LIKELY yer problem, but you don't quote a runtime You do know that yer ignition points set-screw (#8-32x3/16") gitts invisable wear and won't hold the 0.015" points gap and that is a very common cause of weak sparkies, don't you? p/n 355047-S7 ($50c, cheap) Also available at yer local Ford automobile parts counter..... ....Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
