When you switch over to 12 volt do you need to find a 12 volt condensor as well as a 12 volt coil? This is on front mount dist.
Thanks

Do you have a symptom of trouble?
Capacitors(a.k.a. condensers) fail in three ways; They open, short and leak. In a breaker-point ignition an open will cause excessive arcing of the point contacts. A short will have the same effect as the point contacts not opening because it bridges the contacts. Leaking will have the effect of not allowing the coil to achieve full charge thus ineffective spark.
What the others said.

It's very easy to get a run of bad components.. many times if you hit a bad one.. half the ones inthe box will fail as well... Standard procedure is if you hit a bad one.. go to another store to get your next one.. that way you are pulling from different stock or runs.

Jim..... ...points don't care, 6 or 12 volts; condenser don't care, 6 or 12 volts, they're good for about 200 volts. ONLY COIL CARES, 12v coil for 12volts ...or... 6v coil and 12-to-6v convering resistor works on 12 volts..... ....Dell
