I went to TSC to get a 12V battery. The one I bought was a Traveller Com-26, im guessing is equal to a group 26. Will this battery work? It is smaller in physical size than the 6 Volt original. It says right on it that it is for upgrading from 6 or 8 volt systems.

My 12v converted NAA has a small(narrow) 12v battery courtesy of the previous owner. I always meant to replace it with the correct sized one.. but the thing keeps on starting with it.. so I'm not going to fiddle with it.. yet.

Yes that would be a group 26 battery.

What we need to know is the amps and CCA (cold cranking amps)

I use a battery with about 650 cca with no problems on my 801 diesel. (higher compression than gas) But then again I do live in the tropics of south La. I know you snow birds may need a little more cranking amps than that in winter.

It probably will. If your tractor is in good shape, tuned up, etc, you could probably crank it with a lawnmower battery. But, I would get a battery that is as close in size as the older 6Volt Group 1 size battery. Cold cranking amps is what you should be looking at. The higher number the better. Also, a heavy duty battery that can take the bumps and jolts from being in a tractor and not a shock absorbed auto or truck. Make sure your cables are in good shape and no corrosion or breaks in the plastic or rubber cover.

My new battery has 525 CCA as my old 6 volt had something like 4?? CCA. The physical size of the 12V is smaller than the 6V.
