The firing order on my ford is 1243 but can someone tell me which cylinder is #1. The one up front toward the radiator, or the one closest to the drivers seat. And does the firing order go clockwise around the distributor cap or counter closkwise. Thanks in advance.

Rather than start a new (probably repititious thread), I wonder if I could piggy-back a question? While adjusting the points my distributor cap got wedged between the fan and the engine, and all the wires came off the top of the distibutor when I was able to snap it out. Can I simply follow the diagram of pic Tenx and reattach the wires as shown, or do I have to remove the plugs to check compression, etc (the etc represents the great unknown). Thanks

All Fords use the front of the tractor as the lowest number cylinder. #1 is closest to the radiator.

My manual states that the firing order start with #1 closest to radiator and follows the 1-2-4-3 pattern back to the dash.
