12 Volt Conversion w/ Magneto

I have a 1951 8N tractor that I just recently purchased that has been converted to a 12 volt system. It has a front distributor.

I removed all of the wiring from the tractor to have it sandblasted and painted.

I am now trying to replace the wiring using a wiring diagram copied off of the internet.

My question is, my tractor has a magneto, will this change anything on the wiring diagram, and what is a magneto and what replaced it?

Thanks
Bruce

If you have a front mounted distributor your engine was replaced with an older one. Are you sure it's a 51? A magneto is a self energized ignition system that replaces the distributor/ coil/ battery. The battery only cranks over the engine, then as the magneto spins it generates it's own voltage for the spark plugs.

If it is a 51, it should have a side mount distributor, unless engine has been changed or modified!

Bruce....What are you calling a magneto? If it has a distributer on the front, then it aint got no magneto...
