Am I the only person who can't stop tinkerin' with his tractor or are there others on this list? My grandfather's 52 8N has sat out back for the last six months. When the weather finaly broke I decided to get it running again and now I can't stop. Battery, plugs, sediment bowl, fuel screens, resistors, coils, distributor, carb kits. Yea, a carb kit! I don't know how to do that yet but heck, let's give it a shot! I may even rebuild the engine. Where does it end? I work from home and if my wife finds out that I haven't done much of any real work (ie income producing) for the last week I'm going to be sleeping UNDER the tractor. 8-)

Just change the original Step 1 wording slightly, and you should be just fine.
"We admit we are powerless over our addiction, and our wives have become unmanageable".

Same here, Jeff- I work at home, and have been known to waste a little (read: alot) time tinkering. Only I'm not married, so I don't "have a problem". (Ah, sweet bachelorhood! The only drawback to my tinkering is living in poverty)

They say there's only one cure for the tractor-tinkering addiction: Taking up drinking or drugs!

drugs don,t work---i take medication for arthritas and it has not stopped me---I also trained my wife---she now drives down the road and looks for tractors in fields and yards and tells me about them(with addresses) she sews me bimini tops, seat covers and complete covers for my fleet. she also knows at all times where I am. look at the work aspect differently ---if you work harder you can afford to have more tractors. regards----greg

My comment to Richie is to get a good wife with a REAL job and then you can tinker and eat too. Ed

Oooo! I don't know about that, Ed- most women come preprogrammed with the shopping addiction! (Of course, if their addiction could be channeled into a constructive endeavor- where their behavior could be modified, so that when they shop, they want to purchase tractors and tools....)

Admitting you have a problem will only make it worse.

Jeff,
If it anint broke don't fix it. (words to live by)
There are a few exceptions, if you are doing something to improve performance, then it may be ok.
Quit tinkering, and go use the thing. Dig a hole, or plow a field. I think you have too much time on your hands.

I think I'll take that suggestion. Not sure what the letters stand for. Is this manual available on this site or should I go to ebay?

Step 2: Buy ANOTHER tractor to tinker with and forget the other ten steps.
