A few weeks ago someone was looking for the group size 12v battery that would replace a 6v and be the corect size. A Interstate MT-35 is the same size as the OEM 6V battery. Just rewired a sloppy 12V conversion
and the Interstate battery man just happen to stop by and set me up with a direct replacment. The MT stands for Mega-tron interstates top of the line 60mo. battery and 35 is the group size. they only carrie the group 35 in the mega-tron line.

Just to add some info. I have a MT-35 Interstate in my 8N. I noticed the other day the install date marker on it is July 1997-73 months. It still turns the engine over like it was new. Good battery but be prepared to pay for the quality. I'll do it again when this one finally goes.

Hey Hobo is the group 35 the same in all brands of batteries.I usually just go and get a batt close to the one I have, never did go by group size much even on automobiles.Usually I just take the battery out of my VW and buy a new one for it and put the VW batt.in the 8N.They fit pretty good.Never new for sure which was the right battery for the N. Thanks R.M. In AL

Group size is the standard all go by. interstate does list a 35-50 (group 35 with a 50mo. waranty)
that has a green top, MT-35 has a gray top. have found that the green top 50 mo battery will out last the MT line of batteries. been selling them for 25 years. sell 50 pluss a year and have only had three defects and two of them were bad right off the shelf. One died in service. the 50 mo. battery has proven to last 7 years are more wile the MT series loose their pop after three to four years. I think it has somethink to do with the constrution of the battery. The MT does pack a big punch in a little package. So they must down size the plates to pack more in so to get more pop out of the battery. ( cranking amps and storage)

Hobo - Thanks for the information. I've got an Interstate 12 volt battery (side post) in my 8N right now, but I don't know what size it is. I do know it has been a good battery and when I need another, I'll be sure to get the MT-35.
