More power to Mr. Smith! I haven't looked at that Cyclone Air Cleaner he's selling for a couple of days, checked it this morning, WOW! Now the suspense is killing me; still got 36 hours to go!Speaking as a buyer, this is crazy. I paid $50 for one of these, and it had the original decal, paint, jar and lever-bail. This is the kind of thing that will drive the prices of all this stuff out of sight and keep most of us from ever getting any of it. Speaking as a seller, go, baby, go! This is pure capitalism in action, and I hope Mr. Smith gets his money! Showed this to my Dad yesterday, who thought I was crazy whem I paid the $50. His eyes bugged out (and it was only $500 then)! |

| | The auction just ended. I can see the guy with "0" feedback and nothing to lose placing bogus bids... but I can't understand the fellow with a "194" feedback rating being willing to drop $950.00 on a bid. I'd really love to know the story behind the events of this auction... -Schotte |

| | Forget getting a 1939 9N someday. By the time I'm ready for one of those, just the air filter tube to the carb will be worth 900.00 alone. Maybe, I'll drain some original oil and sell it on e-bay. "Original 9N Motor Oil - finally drained from well used 1939 9N. This is the original oil used on this tractor. Guaranteed to be full of original crud and debris." Starting bid: 50.00/qt in a customized and engraved Mason jar. |

| What should a cyclone sell for? Everyone I've seen on ebay lately has gone for over $100. If anyone has one in decent shape for under $100 let me know. |

| I just got through listing a Cyclone pre-cleaner for a 9N (vertical intake stack) on ebay. It's scheduled to start at 10 pm tonight Ebay Standard Time (same as pacific time). It's solid, but it's missing the jar and bale. Starting bid $15, no reserve. If you're interested do an ebay search later tonight for "Ford 9N Cyclone" and you should find it. |

| Except in an auction situation, for the seller to do well, the have to be at least two people that think it's worth something! |

| Good point Jim. And as Dell says "I've won several auctions by being the second highest bidder". I know I didn't feel too good about loosing those auctions, at least not until I realized I had almost jumped into the deep end of the pool and my swimming wasn't all that great. LOL |

| There was a spell recently where a guy smoked me on three auctions in a row. It was nothing more than two guys with the same machine looking for literature. He was willing to pay more than me.I have to say though, that after the third one I was pissed and there would have been major coin flying had we butted heads a fourth time. Could this be a similar situation? I also notice that this Cyclone has the original wire and jar. Very few do. NOTE, these guys are boy scouts compared to Corvette guys or the Hemi/SixPak crowd. |

| | Mr. Smiths' ad for Item # 1920753389 on eBay clearly states: "It's in excellent condition and comes with the original bail (very hard to find) and new replacement glass jar." Clearly, the jar is a replacement... If I remember correctly, the 'Original' jar was a shorty aqua 'Atlas' pint size canning jar...Maybe it was Hazel Atlas with the 'HA' logo on the front...might even be a pint 'widemouth'...Know I have a pic here somewhere, but darned if I can find it between 5 HardDrives on two computers and 100+ ZIPS or so... If anyone else 'remembers', or has a link, please post it below for all! :-) |

| There is an irony here as the buyer and seller have the exact same number of transactions? Mabey they have bought and sold the same items over and over to try and drive prices up. Hummmm.... mabey the buyer and seller are the same person. |

| | I don't think so. That possibility was already mentioned earlier. The seller is John Smith who is a regular on this board and generally known to be an honorable man. He also maintains a top notch website that I personally refer many to from this forum. Besides, after the innuendo surfaced in the original thread, John was quick to go on the record as NOT manipulating the bidding in any way. I, for one, believe him. And I hope he collects every dime from the winning bidder, whoever that turns out to be (auction's not over yet). |
