Hi. I looked up a new distributor for 35, but would like to know a few things about it.
My dist is a Delco 1112570 which this one replaces, among others. It uses a Pertronix 1244A, if you want to go electronic. Does it use the same cap, rotor, and dust cap as the original, or are they different?
I also noticed that that particular dist was listed in the Pertronix ignition section on this site as being a clockwise turning unit, but on my engine it is counter clockwise.
I also noticed that the 1142 is listed for my model but is clockwise. The new dist is listed for a bunch of tractors with serial numbers higher than mine. So how can it fit all these with 2 opposite rotations?
Or is my motor really messed up?
Thanks.

Whose catalog are you looking to get parts from? You need to ask the supplier about the compatiblity of the cap, rotor and dust cover.

I can't see how the cetrifugal advance unit could function correctly if it were used in an application where the rotation was opposite.

I don't know what your motor has to do with it. I doubt that it's any more screwed up than anybody elses! Parts catalogs can be wrong you know.
Are their any auto electric shops around you that rebuild distributors? You might look in the yellow pages or do a web search. If they're local and you have problems they'll be able to help you.

When my TO-30 Delco distributor went south on me, I found and outfit in Portland, OR that I sent it to( I live in Montana)and they rebuilt it for $100 +shipping ($10 each way, insured).A rebuilt distributor was near $200 + shippping. I used the difference to buy a Pertronix and I've been realy happy with the whole deal.
