Finally have begun the ardurous process of rebuilding the engine in my MF40 diesel. Am almost ready to get at the engine, the last thing to get off is the front axle. Honestly i didn't work at it very long as i have some other things to do this afternoon, so perhaps i will figure it out. But i loosened the 4 major bolts/nuts, two on each side. The tractor is cribbed up off the ground about an inch, after i loosened the bolts i really expected with the weight of the axle and grill that the gap to the oil pan would open right up. Am i missing any other bolts, 4 really doesn't seem like much to hold all the weight, or is the 30 years of grime holding the front end on?

Also, rebuilding an engine is a daunting process. I hope that my 40 will run again!!!
