I just replaced the head gasket on my MF 65 ( LP ). It was obviously bad because it was leaking between # 2 & 3 cylinders. I had the head magnifluxed and surfaced before I put it back on. I started it up tonight and ran for about 3 minutes and the coolant started 'blowing' out the overflow! The radiator is not hot and Idon't think the thermostat has opened up yet. I ran a compression check, all cylinders are around 140 to 150.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Start the engine with the cap off the radiator and then look to see if there are bubbles in the coolant. If there aren't I agree with Aaron. You may have overfilled the radiator and as the coolant starts to heat up it expands and overflows. These old radiators were only meant to be filled to the top of the cores or a bitover and the rest of the room is expansion space.

If there are bubbes in the coolant than you have a compression leak somewhere and it's usually the head gasket. Did you put the head gasket on correctly and torque per the specified pattern? Usually you have to torque all around at about half torque, then around again at three quarters torque and then finaly at full torque. After you run it for a few hours retorque it.

It is likely normal. The normal level is right above the cooling fins. Anything above will be expelled when the coolant starts to warm and swell. See if it doesn"t stop after a little while. I hooked up a hose to mine and drained it back to the jug. HTH
