Can anyone tell me the differences between a 44 and 44 Special?

The following is a list of the things that have been changed on the 44 special.The u-frame is longer.It has a larger feul tank,a full upper tube houseing on the steering shaft.Tha rear rims are held on by pinch lugs instead of bolts.The front hubs are cast.The throttle lever is the disc type.

The 44 special used the 277 eng rather than the 260ci. Also now had the cast wheels. Also a formed
steel guide over the trans. cover to easier desig.
the shifting pattern. So many diff. were as a change in ordering patterns (by dealers or cust.)
Such as 3 pt hitch,live pto (and with that disc
brakes)that were avail and optional on both but
ordered with the Specials. Of course there were
some diff between early and late 44's also-
throttle levers etc. Chuck
