Am putting new fuel lines on my 23C. Is there any type of sealer that can be used on the threads to ensure no leakes?

you NEVER use a thread sealer on any type of compression fitting.kills me to see thread tape on hyd fittings that are compression fittings or better still on a graden hose

Two things usually are the cause of diesel fuel lines to leak. One is microscopic bits of dirt. For that reason I always flush the ends off in paint thinner that evaporated quickly.I use John Deere paint thinner. The residual fuel on the lines attract dirt and removing any traces of fuel keeps them clean. If you don't believe this, take a piece of clean glass, dip it in some fuel. Then hold it up in the air and watch the dirt in the air attract to the glass.

The other typical cause is installing the lines with them in a twist.Always be sure the lines don't move from their position they are in before tightening the nut.Any twist will give the line some torque that will actually cause the line to loosen up when subjected to the normal vibration of the engine.Sealer is not recommended or needed for that matter.

On fittings that have banjo ends and use hollow bolts and steel or copper washers for seals,it is important to place the cupped side of the washers toward the banjo for best results.
