I can't seem to get the gauge to go full range. it will only go from 3/4 of a tank to full I can't seem to get the gauge needle to move any lower. The float moves but even when it is out of the tank the needle still will only go from 3/4 to full Any suggestions?

Your gauge and sending unit are not compatible. I have a setup that is empty at 1/4 tank and full at 5/8. Never could do better.

My solution was a new gauge and sending unit that are purchased together. I found such a set in J.C.Whitney for $22.95 which is less than most want for either the gauge or the sending unit alone. I haven't installed it yet. The number is WD124229X from catalog ADLD05. Email if you need more info. It is a universal sending unit - will work in any tank.

That is what I was told about my Borg Warner unit. I couldn't get the range and zero with the sending unit. Since you say they are supposed to be compatible, can you go back to the person you bought the set up from? I couldn't as it came with a car I purchased. The owner had bought the stuff and said "They are compatible and it will work." It does, after a fashion.
