Greetings!
If Harris Guy or Marlowe wants to render an answer here it would be much appreciated...
What differences were there in the Zenith carburetor for the gas engined model 44 versus the gas engined model 44 Special? I have been told that the carburetors were basically the same and that the power needle adjustment was simply enrichened for the Special's 277 c.i. engine. And then I have been told also that the Special's Zenith had a bigger venturi to accomodate the larger volume of air/fuel that the additional 17 cubic inches on the Special would have required. Any ideas on this?
Thank you kindly in advance for your information!

Both applications were 62 series Zenith carbs. We
fortunate MH guys get a core supply of parts from the 44 series tractors. The kit I put in a Special
four years ago, was a 44 kit. They like to charge
an extra seventeen for a float. Since most are not Dyno testing old iron, your HP may be less
than maximum, but the Special runs strong. Don't buy into bench testing carbs. Replacing a rusted
rim is a better investment, than a carb 'pro'
charging you a hundred dollars to turn the screw,
give you a new zip lock bag.
