Hi Sibby and others,

Around 2 months ago you (Sibby) posted a description on adjusting the pto clutch on a 4 cyl diesel FE35 for me. Well I did it and it works, the pto clutch won't disengage readily although it does with a load on it. 2 of the 3 bolts adjusting bolts were extremely stiff and rusted in. I managed to get the gap to 80 thou' and adjusted the pedal OK. I'll keep slipping the PTO clutch when I use it and maybe it'll free up a bit more over time.

Another question if I may be so bold? The starter won't disengage after letting the key return, I have to remove a terminal from the battery to get the starter to stop. I'm loathed to pull the starter out, it looks like a very trickey job, the bolts that hold the starter on are hard to get at with a 1/2 dve socket. Any ideas?

The old machine has been running great, it's in pretty poor aesthetic condition but it uses very little fuel (around 6 or 7 litres per hour), doesn't overheat, blows very little smoke (less and less as time goes on), has heaps of grunt and starts alright, albeit with a little aerostart.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Kind Regards
Michael Oakes Canberra Australia.

Michael, Try reducing your clearance to around .050 or .060" on your pto adjustment if you wish and retry. Sounds like your starter solenoid is sticking at the contacts, does the front end loader frame make it hard to access your starter, i have had no trouble taking them out with two long 1/2" extensions before? Good Luck and all the best. sibby.
