Someone recently told me all MH tractors have the date of manufacture stamped on the underside of the frame.Never heard of this before.Is this true and exactly where is it located.I found the model # on the top of the transmission case on my 44-6

Most of the MH's from that era had the date of manufacture of the casting itself on the bottom of the transmission/differential housing. Those were poured in the mold, not stamped. Do you say some are stamped on the bottom or are you referring to the mold date I mentioned? It would give you a ballpark figure of the date but could be a different year (but close) maybe later depending on when the casting was bolted up.

On the cast U-frame of '48-'51 #30,44,55 models,
the date was stamped into the casting, about
even in tractor length with the fuel cap. Some
'47 44's had the stamp on top,forward of the 1/2"
bolts, securing the battery tray. Most tranny
cases had a less noticable raised casting stamp
date by your left boot heel, as well as the S/N
stamped into the top sheet metal tranny cover.
