I have a 44special rc that has an H260 motor and always wanted to replace it with a H277. This is were i could use it. As far as what is wrong with the motor, it is complete, the pan is pulled off and crank is out,(due to the spun bearing) and the family says the tractor was sold after dad dead without engine and now they found the motor. Tractor was in the family for most of its live so they said it was not abuse. I can get it fairly reasonable.

how do i tell if it is a 1350, or 1500 rpm head? what are the casting #?

I have a MH 44, MH 44special and a MH 55.

THe hold tractor would have been a great addition.

thanks matt

I don't think the head has any thing to do with any rpm ratings or limits the RPMs. I am glad you are familiar with the massey tractors. The only thing I know is the 444 and maybe late 44 Special has a center main with thrust flanges and the bearings are hard to come by. Also sleeves are hard to by but you may not need them if the upper end is usable. I have looked for over a year for the rear oil seal and finally put mine together with the old one and hope it won't leak. Good luck and hope you end up with a nice 444.
