Guys, I saved either a 20 or an 81, and am trying to decipher what I have. Can't read the ser# (apparently it sat out too long) but the engine is free, and it is complete except side curtains and a front wheel...it has the older style mechanical lift, so I have pretty well determined it's not a 22...any ideas? Thanks, Pete

The main differents I have noticed is the governor. The 81 has the governor mounted on the front side of the timing gear cover. I think it is a pierce goveror. The 20 has the governor mounted on the rear side of the tming gear housing and that is a novo governor.

The serial number is there, you just have to scratch for it. It's hand-stamped into the upper machined surface of the transmission/differential housing. On that machined (cast) surface, go to the location between the transmission gear selector casting (that holds the gear lever) and the steel plate that covers the rearend gears. On the left (clutch) side of this machined surface the number is there but is probably filled with paint, rust, pigeon $#&% etc. Get a good wire brush and you'll find it, then post the number here.

Alberta Mike, is there an Alberta based group of Massey and Massey Ferguson "nuts", that a person can hook up with to exchange tractor stories and problems??
I keep going to old tractor pulls at Stampede and have yet to see some Massey paint there!!

No real group that I know of, just the regular tractor type clubs like Leduc West, Irricanna, Westlock, etc. but nothing specific to the MH or MF brand that I know of. Do you get out to any of those shows? Where abouts do you live, sounds like southern Alberta right?
