DO YA THINK THAT A PERSON MIGHT NEED A DRIVERS LICENSE TO DRIVE A TRACTOR??

POINT IN QUESTION:

HAVE A MF35 VERY VERY CLEAN. HAD A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR MY DAUGHTER THIS WEEKEND. HAD A BUNCH OF KIDS AND ONE OF THE FATHERS (FRIEND) WANTED TO GIVE A COUPLE OF KIDS A RIDE ON THE TRACTOR. (I HAD BEEN DOING IT OFF AND ON ALL DAY). WELL I ASKED IF HE KNEW HOW TO DRIVE A TRACTOR. HE SAID THAT HE USES HIS AUNTS ALL THE TIME ON HER FARM..... WELL LETS SEE....HE RETURNED AND SAID SORRY ABOUT YOUR TRACTOR, I HIT A TREE.

WELL LONG STORY SHORT HE WAS CUTTING THROUGH THE WOODS ON SOME PATHS THAT I HAD CUT TO MY DEER STANDS AND CAUGHT THE LEFT TIRE ON A TREE, THEN HIT THE LEFT BRAKE, TRACTOR SPUN TO LEFT, AND TREE WEDGED BETWEEN THE LEFT FENDER AND FRAME.

I WENT OUT LATER AND FOUND THE TREE AND HE MADE A COMPLETE 180 BEFORE HE GOT IT SHUT DOWN.

THANK GOD NOBODY GOT HURT!!!!! !!

THE DAMAGE TO THE TRACTOR IS BENT LEFT FENDER, BENT THE BRAKE ROD IN FRONT OF THE LEFT AXLE, AND CHEWED THE TIRE UP PRETTY GOOD...

ANY BODY ELSE HAVE A STORY???

P.S THE TREE WILL LIVE. MAYBE. THE BARK GOT CHEWED UP PRETTY GOOD. WELL ON THE BRIGHT SIDE. IT WILL BE FIRE WOOD.

Hi BC

You will think I am rough but...

Tractors comes with one seat no other places are safe on the tractor

10 years ago my brother in law gave a hay ride
to some kids...one of the kids accidentaly had his foot rear of one of the steering arms the driver tried to turn near a deep ditch with no success. The tractor turned over the kids..two were killed and two were severely injured.
two had severe injuries.

In my opinion..never let others use your tractor
just for an idea check with your insurance how
much it cost to insure your tractor and hay wagon
to give rides to kids on public roads with an
unexperimented tractor driver.

We love our kids.. a simple ride may turn in a
DISASTER which you will never forgive yourself.

Sorry for preaching

Many years ago I went to Georgia from Mo. for the summer. I was fourteen. A mowing job around a mobile home lot led to a man asking if I wanted more work, stacking hay behind an ole tractor and baler pulling a wagon. I was asked if I had a drivers license. I replied not in Georgia. I was driving the tractor (no idea what it was) and the pickup around the farm. Man oh Man, I was in heaven. I had grown up in the city. That job led to a job in the watermelon feilds. Because I was the only kid with experiance driving I got to drive the tractor pulling a wagon through the feilds. I pulled the wagon up to a semi trailor and had to help unload the wagon loading the semi. We started out in a long line 10 to 12' apart throwing the water melons to each other stacking in the semi, seemed like a mile to the front of that trailer. We had to eat what we broke. The first couple of days a guy would get tired and drop one. We got to take a break and eat water melon. BY the second day we were gently handing the water melons to each other swearing you had better not drop it. As I remember there were a few that got stacked that wern't broke that bad, barely cracked. Didn't seem like that hard a work, I made good money, buck and a quarter making two bucks an hour at the end. I brought home a lot of money and had a great summer. I had kind of lied about the drivers license but I had learned to drive a Ford 8n, a Renault home made dune buggy, and an army issue Dodge two ton we used for a hay truck at my best freinds farm. I felt like I could drive anything. I have a fourteen year old getting ready for a farm permit and have already taught him to drive everthing we own. We live in the city but take care of a farm out south of town. He too can and has gotten summer work. Sorry about rambling, the thread brought back some good memories. Thanks for letting me share and remember. Sparky
