How big of a 3 point disk will a MF65 pull? I am looking into buying an 8 footer but have been told that I will have to go pretty shallow with the depth? Is this true?

Recommend about 6 and half foot tandem disk for your tractor. Measure your rear tire width and make sure you can cut at least 6 inches more. You could pull an 8 foot, but in good soft ground that has just been moldboarded you will not be able to pull it fast enough to pulverize the soil correctly. A tandem disk is meant to be pulled with your lift lever all the way down, in other words not holding it up at all. When you have to try to hold a tandem up with the 3 point, it will not harrow correctly. Benn there done that. Good luck.

By the wieght(@4200) and being 45 to 50HP you should be able to pull it OK. You may not be able to really sock it into the ground that has been plowed but 3-point discs aren't heavy enough to really get down deep on one pass anyway.

I disc my dad's garden with an 18'IH disc and then he goes back over it with a 6' behind a 430 Case which is only 34HP and not quite as heavy as the 65 and does a real good job.
