I bought a rebuilt water pump for my 4020 diesel. Looks like it should be simple enough to replace - except 1 thing. Looks like 2 ports (1 of them is for hte oil cooler) are not threaded. Abilene included 2 short pieces of tubing that appear to fit into these ports. Question is, how do I seal it so they won"t leak?

I"m not much of a mechanic and have zero experience with JD so hope someone out there knows and can share. Thanks

Any sealer or loctite will work for the pipes they are a press fit anyway. I use loctite and tap them in with a hammer about a 1/2 inch. chris

I would be more in favor of rebuilding the one on the tractor. Not hard to do. Or most dealers will do them for you too.

There are several different versions of the pump, particularly where the bypass pipe connects. And on my gas tractor they weren't interchangeable, though the parts houses thought they were. I only got a pump to fit when I rebuilt with a JD kit.

The water pump should have o-rings in the ports that the tubes will fit. Lube the tubes before inserting them in the pump.

I would say hose claps would work.
