I have a early model 4020 and have bought the seal kit that replaces all the o-rings and backup o-rings in the two couplers. After you take the coupler assembly out there is a little "snap" ring thats hiding two o-rings and a backup. Is there a trick to getting this ring out. This ring doesnt have the little eyes to grab. I am at a loss at how to remove it. Thanks in advance, Kyle

If you are talking about the rear of the barrels, the center has to be compressed before a small screwdriver can be wedged under the ring. Almost no one ever removes these snap rings as they rarely ever leak at that location.

I have tried depressing the center. I still cant get a small screwdriver in there. I think this is where my leak is because all the other parts looked good when I took them out. Kyle

Like msb said they just don't leak there. But what sealed the barrel in the housing? I always use the oring/backup ring, but the hoses are sometimes harder to install/remove. The lip/square rings are easier to remove/install the hoses, but don't take long to leak again. If yours had the square rings, that's more than likely your problem. chris

A trick A fellow showed me for getting that round snap ring out easily is to take a center punch and dimple the snap ring in center directly across from where the gap/split is located. It causes the snap ring to contract and can then be easily pryed out with a small screwdriver or pick. If you've got a repair kit I believe new snap rings are included.
