I bought a new zenith carb. for my 4020. The old marvel/shebler carb. has an electric solenoid connection but the new zenith carb does not. Can I abandon wire @ harness and what was its purpose on the old carb?? I would appreciate any advice. THANK YOU

Sometimes these old tractors would get hot enough if you worked them hard ( or especially if they had some carbon deposits in the cylinder) that the gas would ignite without any spark. As long as the carb would supply gas they would keep running for a short time, not running well but keep sputtering, coughing, backfiring for maybe 20 or 30 seconds. Some mufflers got blown apart this way. The solenoid shut off the fuel when you shut off the switch. THey are a nice tractor when you get them running right.

provided a positive shut off on the fuel at the main jet. Was to stop run after ignition switched off. Personally I like the adjustable jet and carb can be converted. Be sure to insulate the wire to avoid a spark.
