The long metal line that couples to the right side of the of the hydraulic pump and runs all the way back to the dash has been and spliced and bent a bit out of shape. Bent enough so that it is very difficult/impossible to get it hooked up to the pump without leakage. It looks to me like the line needs replacement. So, not wanting to fork out the $105.00 for a new one, I was wondering if it would be possible to fabricate a replacement section of flexible (rubber) hose from the pump to first splice in the rigid line. Ideas? Fitting sizes? Thanks.

Only $105.00 for a new one. I'd of guessed way more. I'd buy the right part and fix it right while you can still buy them. Once fixed it should last a lifetime under normal use.

As I recall. That tractor has 2 pressurized oil systems. One does the work at 2200 to 2500 psig range. The other does the cooling; runs coolant up to the cooler in front of the radiator and back to the hyd oil filter. That loop is 180 psig.

My opinion!!!! if you get on the right line, and have a good neoprene line rated for 300 psig or so and at least 2 clamps at each end you might get away with it. Personally, I'd rather flare it and replace with metal pipe.

The control valves operated thru the dash are hooked to the high pressure line as they do your lifting and remote work and all and that's high pressure. You DO NOT want a rubber hose on that line.

I just got to nit pick at you again. The return oil from the top of the oil cooler, does not return to the filter and inlet side of the main pump. The oil from the oil cooler, dumps in the top of the transmission case, no restriction, and very little pressure at this point.

The only oil that returns to the filter, is the return oil, from the high pressure functions, steering, rockshaft, or remotes.

We are going to get you understanding these things before it is over.

Well sir, my problem is laziness. If I would go out to the shop and get all my manuals (for the different tractors) and read them I could give better advice (help better).

But no, I sit here and armchair it and make mistakes. I don't remember how long ago I read about the two systems on this series JD. Before that I thought all the hyd lines on them were at 2300 ish psig.

Sorry,

Buttttt , the overall intent of the message was correct in that he surely doesn't want to rubberize a high pressure line. I was merely indicating that they were 2 pressurized systems and he needed to be on the low pressure one.

That was also the same time I learned that I could change my hyd filter without having to worry about draining the whole thing which made my day.

If you are not concerned about keeping the tractor original, sure .Its done a lot nowadays since some for lines are very hard to come by.
