Original Zenith numbers for the 4020 carb was 13320 (AR46800) original and 13430 replacement. These numbers are obsolete and no longer available from Zenith now. I don't know what number carb the tractor supply places are selling? They have bought those out new surplus and you will just have to ask them what number they are selling if they know. 3020 Zenith carb was 12879 original and 13429 replacement. 14990 was Zenith replacement for the 3010 & 4010. 14997 Zenith replacement for 2520 & 4030 & others. 14996 Zenith replacement for 2010, 2510, & 2020 & others. The only Zenith numbers currently in last price sheet I listed are the 14996 & 14997. If you find out which one works I would like to know too.

You don't even need the right one if you get a good deal on one. I picked up one cheap and the numbers say it is for a 4cyl like a 3010 or 3020 ? Same bore and stroke just feeding 2 more on mine. I found one that has an adjustable load needle instead of the solenoid. It has been the single biggest improvement done to it yet !

My 4020 is running fine with the MS carb. I talked to a mechanic at a JD shop, he said in the 1970's they were taking the Zenith carbs off and putting MS carbs on!!?? He didn't say why but may the aluminum MS carbs do not tend to heat up as much as the cast iron Zenith carbs when working the tractors during hot weather. The problem I had with my carb when I bought this tractor was the diaphragm/accelerator pump had a hole in it. This part is still available from JD. The purpose for the solenoid is to shut off the gas supply to a warm engine so it will not "diesel" after turning off the key. My solenoid has an adjustable load needle.
