There's a 4020 Diesel near me with the levers in the dash, a round muffler, and a square manifold. Did the last of the non-console tractors come with a square manifold, or does this older tractor have a newer engine?

Mitch

To my knowledge the 68 model was the only 4020 with dash controls and a square manifold. Earlier models had dash controls and a round manifold and later models had console controls and the square manifold. Makes the 68's a little unique. I have a early(serial #) 68 4020 and my uncle just sold his late(serial #) 68 4020, both had dash controls, square manifolds, and round mufflers. Hope this helps. Case

I know the early 404 engines had a crankcase ventilation pump. When was that eliminated?

The ventalator pump left in 69 when the side console and oval muffler arrived.

Yes the last of the round muffler 4020's had a square intake and a dry air filter also.
