My Allis 302 Small square baler has problems with bales untying as they come out of the chamber. they are also a bit loose but I am afraid to tighten them anymore for fear of worsening the problem.

Check the hay dogs to make sure they are not frozen also the tucker fingers for proper adjustment

I don't know what the tucker fingers are, they are not referred to in the manual I have. I also haven't had anyone else mention them. Where are they found in the process?

the tucker fingers are on top of the bale chamber right under the knotter assy, one for each side, they catch the twine and bring it into position for the billhook. The tips of the fingers must be 1/8 to 1/2" to the left of the needle slot while holding the tip to the left. hope this helps.

Sorry, Gene, I was confused because I have a wire tie Baler. And to be more specific of my trouble, it is tying and then every few bales, one side or the other, at random it seems, comes untied as it exits the bale tensioner.

Can't help you there don't know anything about wire balers, all I know is the wire comes in handy around the farm for tying things together. hope you get her figured out. Gene
