I just purchased an AC double disc that measures about 10 1/2 feet wide. I've learned that a special tool is needed to hold one end of a gang of blades while the owner or helper turns on the large nut on the other end of the gang to keep the discs from spinning on the shaft. I've seen a loaner tool at the local AGCO dealer, which can be loaned for a fee, however, I'd rather purchase one from someone who has hauled their disc to the junque yard, but kept the tightening tool. Does anyone out there have such an animal for sale?
Thanks,

I don't know about this disk. I do own an AC disk, but they have made different ones through the years. Most disks can be tightened by using a chain to hold the gang while you tighten or loosen the big nut on the end. What you do is fasten the chain to the frame of the disk and leave about a foot of chain hanging out(with a hook on it). As you turn the gang, hook the chain over the disk blade and keep the tension on it. The hook should bite enough so that you can turn the nut. It works for me. You might have to play with this a little to get it right. I don't think I can draw a good enough picture but I will try it if you don't understand what I am so pitifully trying to explain. Hope it helps.
