Does anyone really know anything about these? I'm going to buy one, so I need to know where i can get parts for it. Also, I would like to know how good of a combine it is. I remeber that it could harvest over 100 different crops, but how good of a job did it do?

We had two of them back on the farm in the late 60's/early 70s before we bought a self propelled small IH. Did a great job on oats and beans (all we used it for). Good advise on the rear belt... spent many a time up in the beasts unclogging them when the belt came off. They were kinda cool because they shook side to side and with the big feeder belt you could see what was about to get into the cylinder and stop it if necessary.

Philip: With proper attachments, these combines will do wonderful work. However, they are SLOW. Allis stopped service for them a few years ago so any parts you can find are in a stash somewhere. The last few sets of cylinder bars available up here went from a dealer for $700. Watch out for the big belt on the back flying off and leaving you with the rack plugged full of straw and keep the rubber bushings supporting the racks in good shape, because if they go, the rack will probably break in half. Just about every farm around here had one. Either that or a Massey Clipper. Good luck.. Tom
