I have had a problem with my Cub Cadet 2165 hydrostatic pedal sticking. It is getting dangerous. I can take my foot off the pedal and the lawn tractor keeps going. I have to hit the brake pedal to get it to slow down. It acts like the cruise control is on but it isn't. What could cause this and what do I need to do to fix it?

Drop the mower deck and crawl under it. I bet you will find grass clippings and other crud packed around the pivot on the petal. Check the linkages back to the transmission to make sure they are clear also. A little lubricant on all pivot points will probably clear it up. There is also a little cylinder hooked to the petal mechanism that helps keep things working. I'm going from memory (shakey at best), but I think there is also a return spring under there.
