I have a Cub Cadet 1430 (purchased new in '93) that is having some problems with the cooling fan on the transmission. I noticed the other day (when changing the battery) that the fins on the cooling fan were hitting an idler pulley twards the fron of the tractor. There is even one of the blades missing. I looked on another tractor with the same transmission and noticed it showing some of the same problems. However its fan wasnt nearly as close to the pulley as the first. Is there any ideas as to what is causing this? Definetly seems like a design flaw. Any help would be appreciated.

welcome to the wonderful world of MTD. Most likely there is something on the fan (is it like the older ones where the fan is mounted on the drivew shaft?)that it is out of adjustment or the shaft is not running true.
