I was cutting the yard and then the blades just stopped. I replaced the pto switch and relay and it ran for about 30 mins. and blades stopped again. I just put a new battery in thinking maybe current was low to pto, blades still won't turn. PTO will not engage. What could be the problem

Rick - I'm not familiar with Cubs (I'm kind of green), but here's a few things that could be causing the problem you are having. The interlock switch for the seat may be the problem. If it is defective, it would prevent the pto clutch from engaging. Not sure how it's wired on a Cub, but on a Deere, the engine will start if the switch is defective, but the pto clutch will not engage.

The air gap on the clutch could be out of adjustment. Again, not being familiar with Cubs, not sure what the spec for the gap is. Normally this adjustment is done when the unit is cold. Many pto clutches are set at 0.018 to 0.020". If the gap is too wide, the clutch won't engage because it does not have enough oomph to pull the plates together when they are too far apart.

The field coil on the clutch could be bad. In which case, you'd need to replace it. - Dave
