Mike, Sorry but I got the formula wrong. Try 85% kerosene, 10% petrol and 5% diesel. That should do the trick!

Can you tell me why that you can't just put regular diesel fuel or gasoline in the TVO tractor and run it like that? It looks like a terrible lot of trouble to have to mix fuel everytime you have to fill up. Can you buy it already mixed in your farm service tank from the supplier? It kinda reminds me of the old distillate tractors that we had over here during the 1940's. Didn't take long to obselete them here,as I recall. Being respectful, I don't want to present this question in the wrong way to a bunch of people in UK that just love them the way they are. Just curious.

Fred, Thanks for your query. TVO tractors came about after the last war as a solution to the shortage of petrol. Here in the U.K. we are again in a similar situation. Theres no shortage of petrol but taxes are soon going to put petrol above the £4 a gallon mark. This would make a petrol tractor very expensive to run. You couldnt run a TED on diesel, the low compression ratio of 5.1 to 1 would make it impossible to fire. Hope this answers your questions.

Thanks Pete for the info, I guess the 5.1 to 1 takes care of that question. But in your comments you have created another. I read petrol (which we refer to as gasoline) going above the (I don't have the pound sterling key on my keyboard) so I will have to spell it out. (Probably a way of getting it through configuration) I think at last look at comparison the # sterling was equal to US $1.60? WOW! That would put it at $6.40 per gallon. I didn't like it the other day when I saw gas at the local station go to $1.78 per gallon. You guys are really having it rough. There was a new oil field opened up in one of the Russian countries a couple of years ago that was supposedly large enough to supply America for the next 30 years. I wonder what happened to it? Looks like it should have at least stabilized the current prices, huh? Maybe they're gonna hold it for a couple more years and get $10 a gallon for it :<)

Fred, thanks for your reply. The U.K. now has the heaviest taxed petrol, (and any other sort of fuel you can think of) in Europe, and thats official!!! I think if someone were to re-invent a T.V.O. engine they would probably make a fortune, but hang on, kerosine is'nt that cheap now anyway!! Let me know what part of the States you live in, I'm thinking of emigrating, I've got 3petrol/tvo and two diesel tractors to keep!!!
Regards, Pete.
