THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT SUGGESTIONS - BUT STILL NO POWER STEERING WHEN THE LOADER IS PLUGGED IN TO THE REAR AUXILLARY. AS SOON AS YOU UNPLUG THE LINES THE PWR. STRG. RETURNS. IS THERE A DIVERTER VALVE THAT COULD BE STUCK FROM YEARS OF NOT HOOKING ANYTHING UP TO THE REAR HYDRAULICS. THANKS, TED

All hydraulics have a buypass valve , if the cylinder bottoms out the valve lets pressure buy pass and not damage any thing . It sounds like the buypass valve is staying open so that once you connect to the pressure loop your loader becomes a dump to the return tank and you loose system pressure for your power steering.

It is me again. Are you certain that the loader is plumbed correctly? Have you ever had just one cylinder plugged into the auxillary outlets? If so, how did that work? You do have two lines connected don't you? Your post suggested only one. I do not think that the problem is in the tractor. When the tractor is plumbed to the loader and the control lever behind your right leg is in the center (neutral) position does the steering work?

I WAS WONDERING IF YOU WERE OUT THERE. BOTH LINES ARE PLUGGED IN ON THE REAR - TRIED REVERSING THEM STILL NO PWR. STRG. CRACKED OPEN THE LINES BY THE LOADER JOYSTICK TO BLEED--NO AIR. MOVE THE LEVER BY MY RIGHT LEG TO NEUTRAL NO CHANGE. HAVE YOU HEARD OF A SPOOL VALVE - OR FLOW DIVIDER? COULD IT BE STUCK?

With the the leg lever in neutral there should be no flow out or in the aux. connections. It should be as if the loader is not connected and I would have expected the power steering to be OK in this position. Since the power steering is not OK in this position I conclude that oil must be flowing out and back to the reservoir and therefore it is not available to the P steering. When you move the leg valve up or down without the loader connected to the aux valves do you hear a squealing noise from inside the tractor? The tractor may have to be revved to make this happen. When this is done the leg lever should automatically cancel and return to neutral. You should be able to hold the control valve on the loader in one direction (front or back) with the aux lines connected and after the loader action occurs the power steering should return. This is due to the fact that if the loader valve is held and not released the inlet oil should after expanding the hyd. cylinder not have a place to go. This blockage would stop any recirculation and should let the power steering return. Oil has to be flowing out the aux and back into the tractor reservoir when the p steering is not working since the steering is working when the loader is disconnected. My manual is not available to me at this location but I will get it later. There is a priority valve but it is complicated and without a manual I suggest that you leave it alone. It is located near the hyd. filter behind your left foot. It is a vertically mounted device and is pulled out in a downward direction. Sometimes the spring will break but usually the problem is present with just the tractor and your tractor by it self is fine.

I saw your old post about hooking up a loader on a IH 574 without using the rear outlets. Can you tell me how it’s done?
Thanks

WHEN THE LOADER IS DISCONNECTED, I MOVE THE LEG LEVER TO THE UP OR DOWN POSITION AND DO HEAR A STRAINING NOISE FROM THE REAR LIKE A PUMP WORKING. I CALLED MILLER LOADERS, THEY MENTIONED THE SAME TIPS, AND THAT EVERYTHING IS HOOKED UP PROPERLY OR THE LOADER WOULD NOT WORK. THEY GAVE ME A NUMBER TO A IH DEALER IN SOUTH DAKOTA WHO MENTIONED THE PRIORITY VALVE. I KNOW NOTHING WAS EVER HOOKED UP TO THE AUXILLARY FOR YEARS. THAT'S WHY I WONDER IF SOMETHING IS STUCK. IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY - BUT I'LL KEEP TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT WITH EVERYONES GREAT HELP. THANKS AGAIN, TED
