A friend of mine is going to try and bring his grandad's H back to life. In the process of pulling it out of the shed they broke the front end trycicle casting above the stem and below the radiator. How much trouble is it to fix or is the tractor now dead.

Not at all. At least not if that's all that's wrong with it. Look for parts for it in the listing to the left 'Parts & Pieces', or check eBay. There are always used tractor parts for sale, and an 'H' is a very common tractor. Don't give up on it.

Super easy fix. It will cost about $50, maybe more if you get spendy and do the wheel bearings.
If you are near Strawberry Point, IA there is a salvage yard there. Jerry Everitt's IIRC. I also know Jim Johnson in Miles, IA has a lot. His number is (563) 212-7432

I always put a plug in for Colfax Tractor Parts just north of I-80 at the Colfax, IA exit. They have been very fair with me over the years.

I know they have several H's in the SE corner of their yard in various stages of dis-assembly. I'd be surprised if the [i:a75f2387da]wasn't[/i:a75f2387da] a good casting you could use there.

I have just about any part he will need for an H since I have an almost complete H that is only a parts tractor. I am south of you in Missouri and have that part and then some. If he broke the casting he will need to replace it I would never trust a weld on the font end because if it broke again and the person was driving very fast it could well kill them
