There is a slight groove in the drive shaft of the hydraulic pump on my '48 cub where the drive shaft contacts the the seal. Is this groove supposed to be there?

Cub hyd pump uses an O-ring for the seal, new ring will hold for a while.

NO SCOTT, THE GROOVE IN THE HYDRAULIC PUMP SHFT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE.THE GROOVE IS CAUSED BY THE OLD SEAL THAT WAS MADE OUT OF LEATHER.I ASSUME THAT YOUR REPLACEING THE SEAL BECAUSE OF HYDRAULIC FLUID LEAKING INTO THE CRANKCASE.IF YOU REPLACE THE SEAL IT WILL STILL LEAK BECAUSE OF THE GROVE IN THE SHAFT, YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE SHAFT TOO.

Just replaced a hose on my 1650. Lost the fluid. Where/how do I refill the hydraulic fluid?
