Hello, I recently bought a 450 and the oil is just a tad low. I would like to add some oil, but don't know what oil to put in. I will try and get a hold of the guy I bought from to see what he used, but I was just wondering if there was a standard type used or if mixing is a problem?

Thanks a ton!

If it were mine, I would assume that oil is 4 years old, or been worked for a couple hundred hours, and for the peace of mind I would change the oil AND ther filter. While you are at it check the other fluids. Drian a little off the rear trans and check for water.

Thanks for the quick response! It is a gas so I'll just go ahead and use what we have.

Mixing won't bother anything.

If it is a gas engine, use your favorite 10w-30, straight SAE 30, or 15w-40 oil.

For a diesel, of course use a 15w-40 diesel rated oil.

ANY oil available to day is far better than what was available when the tractor was new.
