The manifold on my 1967 Farmall 140 has had it. I removed it and found several old patches and holes in the exhaust ports. Anyway after getting the correct manifold and gasket. I was wondering if any of you use any of the High Heat sealant when replacing the gasket. Advantages, disadvantages to using it. I never have used any thing on my old truck I use to have. But had a few old timers in the area suggest using it. The new manifold is straight and the head checks straight also with a straight edge.

Thanks,

Keith

I purchased the manifold from a local Antique Tractor Parts dealer T&M Tractor. They also have a web site, but you can get it from this site for around the same price.

If anyone needs one for a Super A, A, 130 and so on I have a used one in very good shape. I bought it thinking that it was the same for the 140 but I was wrong.

I used the high temp gasket maker on my cub manifold when I replaced it, because my gaskets were no good. Might not've been the right thing to do, but has worked just fine for the last five or six years.

Keith,
No, you don't need to , nor would I suggest any sealant. A new set of gaskets is all you need. After you put it back on, run it for 30 mins to an hour, then shut her down and re-tighten the bolts. Check them for a couple of weeks after that. You should be golden.

The manifold gasket does not need sealant.
