I just wanted to put in a plug for the Missouri Chapter and the Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association. I hope many of you are planning on attending. It's a great locatoion and looks to be a great time with many items already reserving spots. Camping spots are almost already full! I have had many folks ask about a tractor pull. While there will not be an actual tractor pull at the RPRU - there will be a pull only 15minutes north of the RPRU in Hallsville, MO. It will be held by the Mid America Tractor Pullers. From the Red Power Round UP - take Hwy 63 south to the 1st exit and take Route B to the north. When you get to Hallsville, take a right at the 4-way stop sign and travel about 2 miles to the east. You can't miss the pull - the track is right next to the highway. We will have everything from farm stock tractors to the fast Division 5 tractors, V8 Tractors, and Heavy Farm Tractors. I'm not wanting to take anyone away from the Red Power Round Up - our pull does not start until 4pm, on Saturday night - the 14th, and will last pretty late. Hope to see many of you there!!! For more details visit the MATPA sight below, or the MRVSEA website at www.mrvsea.com.

Well Hallsville is having one, so it is a moot point. 15 minutes away is good because it gets the crowds separated.

In my way of thinking, you couldn't ask for a better pairing up of events.

Looks like a winner to me.

wonder why there can't be a tractor pull at the red power roundup? the ones that have had one have had large crowds and numbers of tractors. seems to me there could be one. there was one at the '93 roundup at booneville. insurance and liability issues are a cop-out. most all smaller tractor shows have them.

Unfortunately it is not a "cop-out" as you say Randy. It is a real issue with the insurance company. If the IH Collectors would sponsor a tractor pull at a RoundUp our insurance would be dropped immediately. 1993 was a different place and time. If you were a National Director would you be part of an organization like this one with no insurance? People today just look for someone to sue. We have been very fortunate to not have any serious incidents over the years. The insurance company we have now is about the only one willing to underwrite this policy since the boiler incident on Ohio. We are lucky to have insurance of any kind.

My personal opinion, they would ruin the show. RPRU to me is a chance to see IH history come alive, and pulling tractor TO ME ruin that history.
