Almost iomediately after running a grain auger last fall, my C won"t go into gear. It grinds on the gear. Is my clutch out or what? I tried to adjust in the belly with no results. No prior signs to any problem until we finished.

Hi Russell, another possibility could be the pilot bearing in the flywheel. On the C & SC it was just a bronze bushing that would get clogged with clutch dust and bind on transmission shaft. This would cause transmission shaft to turn even though clutch was depressed. There was no method of lubrication, so to fix requires splitting the tractor.

Have you put it in gear, then started the engine or bumped the engine with the clutch depressed? If the tractor moves the the clutch disc may be stuck to the flywheel and not releasing. Hal
