Change mine yearly and replace w/ the WallyWorld supertech. No problems!

As the other guys implied, the 340 takes HyTran instead of straight hydaulic fluid. I run an off brand in mine that meets Case IH specs

I put walmart hytran equivalent in mine. Makes it compatible with my other IH's and JD's.

Even Walmart carries HyTran compatible hydraulic fluid in the automotive section. There is absolutely no reason to not use a hydraulic fluid that at least meets HyTran specs.

I once read someone's account of putting the "wrong" hydraulic oil in their IH tractor. Supposedly the pump whined and screamed until he gave in and changed it back to genuine HyTran. For the life of me, I can't understand how that could be since as was stated in another thread, tractors are inanimate objects and as long as the stuff is liquid and slippery, it'll pump it.

I don't know, by the time the 340 came out hydraulics were becoming sophisticated. If it meets hytran specs, it is probably ok. My 460 HU hydraulics were completely disassembled and cleaned. I am still working on it and it currently has a tractor store brand in it. When I get everything in operating order (It is not there yet), I will probably drain and use HyTran.
