HYDRAULIC Pump Choices: Thompson or Cessna, 12GMP or 17GPM?

I need to replace the hydraulic pump in my F504D. I have a 12 GPM now. I want to go to the 17 GPM pump to kick up my loader cycle rate. There is a Thompson and a Cessna pump, is one better than the other? When going to a 17 GPM and using the correct filters, I hear that they are longer. This nessecitates a different filter cover. Can I manufacture a spacer on a milling machine to allow longer filters? Has anyone done this? Are these two (12 GPM and 17 GPM) really interchangable without modifications? Help!

So... I guess I'll "Git 'er Done"! Thanks. But seriously, what about the filter issue? Is there a different cover or spacer for the high-flow filters? Hell, who needs filters anyway, they are over-rated.
