I pulled the pump off this 300 in the snow a month or so ago. I have it rebuilt but can not see how to time it to put it back on. As far as I can see I do not see any marks on the cam gear or what ever is on the motor. The gear on the pump has what looks like 2 dif marks on it and I am not sure what one, One is a tooth and the other is between 2 teeth. Can any one help at all here. JON

If you have a distributor the timing of the pump gears does not matter. Just install it and you can set the correct timing when the distributor is installed into the adapter.

I am using a mag. shouldnt there be a mark on the back of that gear ?? I have a small mirror but can not see anything there. I think I am on compression stroke would it be 180 off on that gear if I was not on compression stroke. Or is that gear gonna be the same no matter what way? JON

#1 @ TDC or 360º off, EITHER WAY, the mag drive slot will be HORIZONTAL. As long as the cam timing hasn't been messed with, you can IGNORE the timing marks and insert the gear so the mag drive slot is HORIZONTAL!!!

If you're on the compression stroke on No1 piston both valves should be closed. Hal

I'm NOT a "300" expert... HOWEVER... does it have a mag or distributor drive slot? If it DOES, the slot will be HORIZONTAL when #1 cylinder is @ TDC.
