656 diesel batteries

why do the batteries on my 656 diesel sometimes trickle out acid? my batts are 4 years old, alt. & reg- 1 year old. I've owned the tractor for 27 years and it has done this off & on. Is there anything I can do to correct this? Thanks DTK.

Tractor vet, I do have the red resistor next to the voltage reg. What should I change it to? Tractorman NC, Did putting two 12 volts in parallel work out long term? thanks for the info. Dtk

Yes. Been running mine that way for probably 20 years. Don't remember for sure.

Change to two 12 volt maintenance free batteries in parallel. worked for me!

Need to put a volt gauge on it and see just how much she is putting out . Can't remember if that system has that charging resistor in it or not and if it does then that is your problem . IF it does then it will be real close to the regulator and is a RED porcelain one . Had that problem with the 806 that i have now changed that and all is well.

If the battery isn't over full, I'd adjust the voltage regulator down a little.

Overfilled or overcharging, unless case is cracked.

best to check your chargeing system. over chargeing can cause this.
