hi-- was wondering on the 1206 what position the T/A should be in for stationary PTO work, high or low. thanks- ray

The old mechanical TA was kept on the 504, 544, 656, 666, 686, and smaller.

Hydraulic TA (no freewheeling) was started with the 706 and 806 and kept on all the larger tractors through the 88 series and the end of IH.

thanks for your reply it is greatly appreciated.since we are on the subject--my 1206 does not "freewheel" when the T/A is in low, I would say that is normal but when did they change that when I was young we had a 450 and when you put it in low it would freewheel- thanks again-ray

With that type of TA it shouldn't really matter, but I always leave ours in direct (high).

had another question-- has anyone here have ever used a product called DAKOTA-SHINE? its supposed to make dull paint bright and beautiful again butit seems a bit pricey, does it work and is it worth the money thanks-ray

I've seen similar products. Used mostly by used car and machinery dealers. It does work, but does not last very long.
